Information for Authors
Submitted abstracts will be assessed by the Council and allocated on the basis of the scores to Plenary, Short Papers (oral), or Poster sessions. Submissions may be in the categories of Oesophagogastric, Hepatopancreatobiliary or Bariatric. Abstracts of a general upper GI nature should be submitted in the most appropriate or any category. Abstracts should not have been presented elsewhere at the time of submission. Please note that all accepted abstracts, whether for oral presentation or poster presentation, will be published in the AUGIS Programme and on the British Journal of Surgery website (citable).
Plenary and Short Paper Presentations
All presentations throughout the meeting will be delivered using PowerPoint format and authors will be sent detailed guidelines prior to the conference.
Presentations by Trainees in the Plenary Session will be eligible to receive the British Journal of Surgery Prize.
Posters will be displayed for the duration of the meeting. Poster presenters will be sent detailed guidance notes on the poster rounds and adjudication in advance of the Scientific Meeting. Poster presenters will be expected to bring 3 powerpoint slides with them to the meeting and the three best posters will be selected for a 5 minute presentation on the last day of the meeting.
Information for all Poster Presenters:
Please note that all posters must be 840mm wide by 1188mm high (A0) to fit in the available space. All posters must be in Portrait format. If the posters are not in this format they will not be displayed.
If you are having your poster delivered directly to the Sage, it is your responsibility to put your poster up on to the correct poster board. You can do so from 8am on Thursday 19th September 2013.
There will be a poster collection point next to the Registration desk.
Please refer to your individual poster number to identify your correct poster (if collecting from the Sage and your correct poster board).
All posters must be taken down and removed after 14:00 on Friday 20th September and we regret that AUGIS is unable to return any uncollected posters to authors.
Please contact Nichola Coates (email@example.com) if you have any questions.
For the AUGIS 2013 Annual Scientific Meeting, an optional poster printing service is being provided by Newcastle University Poster Printing Service:
We recommend you apply for study leave well before this date to ensure that you are able to present your work at the meeting.
Prize Poster Presentations
Please note that to be considered for the Prize Poster Presentation session on Friday 20th September (12:00 to 12:15), all posters will be marked throughout the day on Thursday 19th September. You are not required to be present next to your poster during this time.
The three posters selected to present in the Prize Poster Presentation session on Friday 20th September will have a five minute slot to present their poster and take any questions from the audience. Presentations must be in Powerpoint format and on a USB stick.
There will be an announcement at the end of Symposium 2 “Hot current topics in UGI surgery” which takes place from 16.30 – 17.15 in Hall One on Thursday 19th September to inform authors of the successful posters which will be asked to present on Friday. Please ensure that you are present to find out whether you have been successful. Those successful authors are asked to notify Nichola Coates at the registration desk and to find out any other information.
If you do not wish your poster to be considered for the Prize Poster Presentation, please email Nichola Coates (firstname.lastname@example.org).
